Q:1 Why do I need Untraceable?
A: All versions of Windows and Internet Explorer save info that relates to your Internet use and file use. This was originally intended to make your Internet and Windows experience faster, customizable and more convenient. Unfortunately, people that want to track your Internet and computer use can misuse these features. Untraceable provides an easy interface to manage the removal of this information from your PC. Most importantly it actually does what it says. You can remove tracking information as soon as it is created, on a schedule or automatically on start or close.[TOP]
Q:2 What are the minimum requirements for running Untraceable?
A: You must have a FUNCTIONING Windows computer running version 95 OSR2, 98, 98SE, 98ME, 2000 or XP. You must use Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.x or higher. Any computer that is running these operating systems will have enough memory and hard drive space for Untraceable.[TOP]
Q:3 You always talk about running as few memory resident programs on your computer as possible, why should I break this rule and load Untraceable?
A: You're right - one of the biggest performance and reliability problems in Windows relates to running a bunch of software in the system tray. The key is: run only what is absolutely necessary. Anti-virus and firewall are definitely tied for #1 on the scale of importance. If you are concerned about privacy at all Untraceable would be #2. All the fancy auto download, media players and other unimportant stuff should be avoided.[TOP]
Q:4 Untraceable doesn't allow me to delete my index.dat file like some other software. Why not?
A: We have worked long and hard to make Untraceable do what we say it does without hurting your system. Deleting the index.dat file requires a reboot to work properly. Your system can become very unstable when you delete that file. We are working on a brilliant way to delete that file without harming the system, but we will not release it until it works![TOP]
Q:5 How do I know Untraceable will not hurt my system?
A: We have gone to great lengths to be conservative in designing and programming Untraceable to be as reliable as possible on the greatest number of Windows based systems. However, every computer is different. With the huge number of differences in hardware, software applications and operating systems configurations we cannot guarantee that Untraceable will run perfectly on every computer. We allow one month for you to try the software free. We will help you unravel any trouble you may have. And if things ultimately don't work out - you don't pay for it.[TOP]
Q:6 I am unable to get Untraceable to work after an install. I get no errors, it just doesn't come up. What's going on?
A: Some systems require a reboot after install. Just reboot normally and you should see Untraceable in your system tray.[TOP]
Q:7 There are lots of customization options. What settings do you recommend?
A: As a general rule, I would NOT recommend the most aggressive settings. Untraceable can truly make you Untraceable. On the most aggressive settings, it will eliminate e-mail attachments before you can open them! Set your cookies to be removed "real-time". Save cookies that are required by membership or other sites that you frequent. Set the other settings for clear on exit, start or on a schedule as you prefer.[TOP]
Q:8 I get an MFC something, something error after I install Untraceable. What's going on?
A: You either have the wrong version(s) of Internet Explorer or Windows. If you have checked and have the correct version, you may need to repair your Internet Explorer installation. Click on the "Add/Remove programs" icon in the Windows Control Panel. Find Internet Explorer in the list. Highlight it. Click on the "Remove" button. A menu will appear, and you will click on "Repair". Just follow the prompts. This should do it.[TOP]
Q:9 Is Untraceable compatible with Zonealarm and Norton Anti-Virus?
A: Yes, but as mentioned above, every computer is different. If you find you have trouble let us know, we will assist you in troubleshooting your system.[TOP]
Q:10 How do I know that my credit card information will not be stolen if I do the on-line registration?
A: We have a certified secure site that is physically separate from our offices that handles the transaction. All credit card info that is transferred over the Internet is encrypted. No credit card information is stored on the Internet. As you know, nothing in this life is guaranteed, but our ecommerce site is a secure as any ecommerce site on the Net.[TOP]
Q:11 I didn't get an Untraceable CD. How can I be sure I'll have a copy should something go wrong with my computer?
A: Untraceable is available by download only. You will not get a floppy or CD copy of Untraceable. Simply copy Untraceable to a floppy or CD, and write your license # on it. That way they never get separated, and you'll have a backup should something go wrong.[TOP]
Q:12 Isn't Untraceable designed to protect scumbags that surf the Net for porn and other stuff like that? If I don't do that I don't need Untraceable do I?
A: One might assume that, but one would be wrong. Untraceable is designed for scumbags that don't surf for porn or other illegal/questionable content, too. A perfectly innocent person can have porn sent to them unsolicited via e-mail. Make a spelling error while typing a web site address, and you could end up in a disgusting place totally innocently. Having certain content on your computer can be a Federal offense, regardless how it was put there. Untraceable gives you a lot of "peace of mind", particularly if you have multiple users for one computer, or if you have children (especially teenagers). Others just like being in control over the info their computer contains, and Untraceable provides that.[TOP]
